The project shall install a 10kw solar mini-grid system which will power an existing borehole and therefore the clinic unit of the Bulu Blind center Buea, so as to make sure uninterrupted access to safe beverage and better health services to over 40 blind kids of the middle and residents of the community. The electricity generated also will power the poultry farm, arts and guild unit, and ICT units of the middle, eliminating the high cost of running the middle thereby making it self-sustainable.
Frequent electricity cuts mean sometimes up to five days during a week the middle is without electricity. During these power outages, the blind trainees are forced to fetch water from a close-by river which is unsafe & unhealthy. The clinic is unable to store vaccines and provides many services while the opposite units like poultry farms and ICT units remain under-productive. The solar mini-grid will ensure uninterrupted access to safe beverage and improved health for the youngsters & the entire community
.The 10kw solar mini-grid system will power an existing borehole, poultry farm, clinic, arts and guild unit, and ICT unit of the blind center. These will serve the water and health needs of not just the blind trainees but the whole Bolifamba community. An uninterrupted supply of power to the poultry farm will boost its productivity while the clinic will generate more income from better services offered. of these will combine to form the blind center fully sustainable by the end of the day.
There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning.– OLIVER SAN
